Mother mourns son slain 3 years ago
          By Kate Ramunni - Correspondent

BRIDGEPORT - The adage "Time heals all wounds" isn't holding true for a
Toronto woman whose son was gunned down on a Bridgeport street three years ago this
week.
Eva Kiss is still haunted by the memory of Zoltan, her only child, who was 24 when he was
shot to death while sitting in a car on Pembroke Street on Sept. 28, 2001.
Police have yet to make public a motive for the murder, and have said that Zoltan Kiss had no
criminal recourd. He also had no money, drugs or weapons on him when someone shot him
25 times that night.
"Murder changes you - you are not the same person, and you never will be again," Eva Kiss
said.  "You have more questions than answers, and each new answer you receive just opens
up more questions, new questions."
The state has offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of
Zoltan Kiss' murderer. Eva Kiss is offering an additional $10,000.
"We are still actively investigating the case and are working on some leads," said Bridgeport
Police Detective Heitor Texeira, of the department's Cold Case Unit.
Kiss said she will not rest until an arrest is made.
"As time goes by - and it goes very slowly - your tears are less frequent, but they come at
odd and different times," Kiss said, "a certain song on the radio, an innocent question from
someone."
Eva Kiss lived in Bridgeport in the 1980's with her former husband and her son. But they
moved to Toronto, near Eva Kiss' parents, in order to escape the crime that plagued the city.
The boy returned to Bridgeport with his father after his parents divorced.
It was near their former home that Zoltan was killed, Kiss said.
There were many people there that night who may have witnessed the murder, she said
"So many people, and not one person will come forward to assist the homicide detectives
she said. "Twenty-five shots fired, and no one knows anything - and the murderer is free to
live and breathe another day."
Kiss and her parents have set up Web sites dedicated to Zoltan - they are at
www.geocities.com/murderinconnecticut/index.html and
www. geocities.com/murderofourgrandson/index.html

Anyone with any information about the murder is asked to call the Bridgeport Police
Detective Bureau at 576-7624.
